Having a baby is usually an exciting event, but what about when the mother and father are related? A new Game of Thrones theory has Jon Snow (Kit Harington) and Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) having a son together in the final season — and it’s all based on a prophecy from Melisandre (Carice van Houten), the red priestess.
Melisandre predicted that a prince would save everyone who followed the Lord of Light with a fiery sword named “lightbringer.” As the fan theory goes, Jon and Daenerys give birth to the promised prince who saves the world from the White Walkers.

But instead of having the baby and living happily ever after, the couple is forced to give up their firstborn to the Night King, who promises to spare the world in return.
Why would Jon and Daenerys sacrifice their baby to save Westeros?
According to Bustle, the theory argues that the Night King is going to win the war no matter what. He does, after all, have an army of undead soldiers — a fighting force that gets bigger every time it goes to battle.
The people of Westeros were never going to win the war with the Night King, who doesn’t really want to annihilate the entire world. Instead, he wants the true heir to the Iron Throne to become the next Night King and demands Jon and Daenerys sacrifice their son.

As plausible (and messed up) as the theory sounds, we won’t know for sure until HBO releases the final season. Although producers have been very secretive about Season 8, Clarke recently teased that her final scenes will leave “a lasting flavor” of “what Daenerys” truly is. Was she referring to Daenerys giving up her baby to save the world from the Night King?
Season 8 of Game of Thrones is expected to premiere sometime in 2019.
