Saturday Night Live has announced the remaining hosts and musical guests for January 2018, and it includes one legendary former cast member and an Academy Award-nominated actress who will make her sketch comedy debut. Will Ferrell and Jessica Chastain are the new hosts will be heading to Studio 8H in the coming weeks.
Chastain will host SNL on January 20, with Australian actor/singer/YouTube personality Troye Sivan joining her as the night’s musical performer.
Currently earning rave reviews for her work in the film Molly’s Game, Chastain was nominated for Best Supporting Actress for The Help and Best Actress for Zero Dark Thirty.
Next up for the actress is X-Men: Dark Phoenix, the newest installment of the long-running franchise, in which she will play “a mysterious alien with shape-shifting abilities.”
Ferrell will return to host SNL for the fourth time on January 27, joined by country music star Chris Stapleton, who will be performing on the show for the second time.
Of course, Ferrell launched his career as a cast member on SNL for seven seasons from 1995 through 2002 before leaving to become a film star.
Ferrell’s sequel film Daddy’s Home 2 opened last month in theaters, pairing him opposite Mark Wahlberg, Mel Gibson, John Cena, and John Lithgow.
Later this year, Ferrell will appear in the movie Holmes and Watson, a comedy parody of Sherlock Holmes which will reunite him with frequent co-star John C. Reilly.
Another movie Ferrell originally filmed in 2014 is expected to finally be released sometime this year: Zeroville, directed by James Franco and co-starring Seth Rogan and Megan Fox.
Actor Sam Rockwell will host SNL this weekend with singer-songwriter Halsey joining him as the show’s musical guest. Rockwell is having a big month, having just won a Golden Globe at last Sunday’s awards show for his work in the film Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri.
