The 2018 award season will be the first since Hollywood’s public sex scandals have been at the forefront. Right now, Hollywood is in a difficult place. Many people are talking about boycotting movies and television series that are connected to sexual predators, perverts, and even pedophiles.
It’s unclear if the awards are going to take this into account when handing out awards in 2018 and if the moments featured in the Golden Globes 75th Anniversary Special will be tailored to remove those who may have been involved in sexual harassment suits.
It’s also likely that the 2018 awards season will look very different than it has in previous years. Some of televisions biggest celebrities are now disgraced, including Netflix’s Kevin Spacey and Amazon’s Jeffrey Tambor.
Still, Hollywood continues to be a place for many where the magic on screen means an escape from the realities of life. It’s too early to determine how far the fallout will be and who the next disgraced actor, producer, or mogul.
Are you going to watch the Golden Globes 75th Anniversary Special? Do you think the 2018 award shows will be different now that so many Hollywood sex scandals have come to light?
