The eligibility for the Grammy Awards in 2017 has just closed the weekend that passed, and as such everything that was nominated is out and people had the chance to hear it (or at least had a chance). Even though there have been lots and lots of albums, songs and artists that have definitely won a big share of people over the year, and most likely you will recognize a big share of them among the nominees, but only some of them seem to have been released in the last minute. They have barely made it into the required time frame, which is still good that they managed to do it.
In fact, this is not a lazy strategy, but a very smart and thought-out one. Dropping new tunes as soon to the eligibility expiration as possible means that the music will remain more in the heads of the voters as they start placing their votes. Now it seems that there are minimum 5 artists that might be competing for prizes with recently released music. No wonder if all of them will end up to be nominees in this competition.
- The Weeknd. Anticipating his future album “Starboy”, the famous singer released two official singles, both of which can be nominated for Grammys at the end of the year. The first one is the title track of the album, which is already in the charts, and the second one is “False Alarm”.
- Daft Punk. They featured on The Weeknd’s hit “Starboy, so they might have a chance too.
- Besides being Beyonce’s little sister, Solange is also a new entry with her recent release named “A Seat At The Table”.
- Jack White. This year, though people thought it was going to be a quiet one for him, he released another top 10 album, so he might get again lots of Grammys.
