On Sunday night, we got the chance to witness the second presidential debate between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump as part of the 2016 election process. The showdown was moderated by Anderson Cooper from CNN and Martha Raddatz from ABC News. It took place at the Washington University, found in St. Louis, Missouri. The difference from the first debate was that this one allowed people who were in the audience to ask the candidates questions.
Of course, the celebrities couldn’t stand back and had to take a stance on this debate. Twitter was full of opinions, both of regular users and stars. Rosie O’Donnell, for instance, started the entire trend by asking if Trump wants to grab Hillary’s pussy, making a reference to the clip that leaked last week showing Trump making sexist comments in what he claimed to be “locker room talk”.
Many stars noticed and talked about the fact that Clinton refused to shake her opponent’s hand. Patton Oswald also posted, saying that she even refused to acknowledge that he was there. Sarah Silverman and Debra Messing supported her on this, while Emmy Possum wrote that she wouldn’t have touched him either.
Some other celebrities found it was a perfect moment to mock the way in which Trump held the microphone. Judd Apatow, for example, wrote that when he holds the mic too close to his mouth, he starts to sound like a sexual deviant on the phone. Seth MacFarlane commented that he seems to be an aging crooner when he holds it like that. Christina Applegate also mocked his sniffing, saying that probably the mic was broken again.
Jessica Chastain tweeted that she feels sorry for Hillary Clinton to have to take part in such a circus, while John Cusack said that Trump is low on energy and perhaps he is ashamed.
