As fans of the talk show certainly know by now, Wendy Williams confirmed that she is going to take a three-week break from her show due to being diagnosed with Graves’ disease. That being said, the production team proposed to bring a guest host to take her place for the time being.
However, we hear that the diva shot down this idea.
One insider on set told us that the ‘Producers wanted to have Angie Martinez guest host The Wendy Williams Show while she was out. It is a great way for them to give Angie a test show. They’re developing ideas with her.’
But ‘Wendy was livid, so the producers backed down.’
The star is dealing with Graves’ disease which causes bulging eyes, anxiety, weak muscles, fatigue and more.
She decided to open up about it on her talk show.
‘My doctor prescribed… As of today, three weeks of vacation. What? Who are you? I was pissed,’ she informed her studio audience.
Wendy went on to compare some of her symptoms to ‘birds swimming around my head.’
She also feels ‘constantly high, but not high.’
As you may remember, back at the end of October, the star fainted during the show.
At the time, she claimed that it was because she got overheated in her Statue of Liberty Halloween costume.
A few days later, however, she opened up about her disease saying: ‘Along with the thyroid disease, I also have Graves’ disease. It is an auto-immune disease that leads to an overactive thyroid. When you see my eyeballs pop out, know this, you are making fun of a sick woman!’
As for the replacement issue, due to Williams slamming this idea, the network is going to air re-runs instead.
