The 91st Annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade takes place on Thursday, November 23, 2017, and you can watch the action live streaming online. Each year, the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade airs on NBC and its local affiliates. For the past few years; however, NBC has partnered with Verizon and YouTube in order to bring live streaming coverage to everyone, free of charge. In addition to the YouTube stream, some people prefer to watch the live Earth cams that are focused on the parade. For most of America; however, the preferable way to watch the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is in person, and if you can’t be there live, than to watch on NBC. Spanish speakers will be able to watch on Telemundo as well.
The live stream includes several cams including one that is set up on the main Parade float. There will be special features only viewable on the YouTube stream as well. This includes a segment called “Picture in Picture” which will have continuous coverage during the live stream. NBC Universal has partnered with Concert, BuzzFeed, and Apple News and there will be simultaneous coverage of the streams on those outlets as well.
The live stream is 360 and viewers can control the angle of the picture they’re watching.
Keith Habersberger (BuzzFeed) and Olivia Culpo will serve as hosts for the live stream. As NBC teamed with Verizon, there are some special perks for Verizon Up program customers. Select rewards members will be able to view the parade from a special sage where Culpo and Habersberger will be located, giving them front-row access to the parade.
The YouTube live stream will begin at the same time as the NBC broadcast, but the video will not be the same. The 91st Annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade starts at 9 a.m. ET and runs until 12 p.m. ET.
NBC Executive Vice President of Entertainment Advertising Sales Mark Marshall released a statement about the parade.
“The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is the Super Bowl of family viewing in the way it captures a multigenerational audience at scale. Verizon is a valued partner as we work to show the power that NBCUniversal has in reaching consumers of all ages at any of the touch points where they consume media.”
