Watch Denzel Washington Rap His Favorite Cardi B Lyric

Cardi B is still on top of the world following the release of the track, “Bodak Yellow,” last summer. In a report from the New York Times, they described her hit track as the “song of the summer.” Since then, her star-power continues to grow stronger with each late-night talk show appearance and subsequent interview.
And one of the latest celebrities to come out in support of Cardi was the legendary actor, Denzel Washington. Denzel inadvertently put the stamp of approval on the former L&HH star when he sang the verse to her smash-hit.
In a video which we have for you below, the Oscar-winner can be heard spitting a few lyrics to her songs.
It’s a surprising break in character from how fans typically see him, as the Academy Award winner usually plays dramatic roles, like in The Book Of Eli, where he’s a blind warrior on the path to carrying one of the last known religious texts, or in Training Day, as the maliciously corrupt police detective.
While promoting the film, The Iceman Cometh, directed by Eugene O’Neill, Denzel stopped by The Root to talk about the film, his career, personal life, and other cultural moments including the break-out success of Cardi B.
When the host asked him if he liked the 25-year-old rapper, he responded immediately by singing one of her songs. He said, “he buys me Yves Saint Laurent and a new whip. You think I don’t know. I be watching!”
Additionally, Washington offered some words of advice to Cardi and the rest of us out there, he said we should all keep it real, “don’t believe the hype,” and stay true to yourself. Those are words to live by.
