When the September issue of Vogue hits the newsstands, Anna Wintour always features the best of the best in the entertainment industry on the cover. As a rule, the biggest celebrity of the moment poses for a photo shoot and sits down for an interview to reveal at least one secret about their life. It’s a big deal, a special issue, and something that just about everyone in Hollywood would love to be a part of — except one. An insider says that this year’s cover girl, Beyoncé, was actually the magazine’s second choice because their top pick turned them down.
“Beyoncé was not the first choice — it was Meghan Markle,” says the insider. “Bey had no idea that she was the second choice for the issue.”
According to Radar Online, as soon as the Duchess of Sussex passed, everyone at Conde Nast (the company that publishes Vogue) started gossiping.
@Beyonce, in her own words, gets real and raw about body acceptance, opening doors for the next generation of artists, her own family ancestry, and more in our September issue cover story. Markle has not spoken to reporters since she and Prince Harry sat down for an interview when they got engaged in November 2017. At that time, she talked about her new life and career as a royal.
Since then, according to Straight Shuter’s Naughty or Nice podcast, Markle has turned down Vanity Fair and Cosmopolitan, as well as Vogue, even though her friends say she would have done anything to grace those covers before she got married.
Markle grew up in California, and she was interested in the entertainment industry at a young age. But now that she is a member of the royal family and is no longer acting, it appears that royal protocol might prohibit her from doing interviews and photo shoots with some of those publications — especially Cosmopolitan because of its sexual content.
The former Suits actress grew up reading American Vogue, but there is still a chance that she might do an interview with them in the future. Or maybe she will speak with British Vogue like Kate Middleton did after she married Prince William.
As for Beyoncé, in her Vogue interview, she talked about her pregnancies and her body acceptance after giving birth. She said it is important for women and men to appreciate their natural bodies, and that is why she chose to use very little makeup and get rid of her hair extensions and wigs for the photoshoot.
She explained that everything is fuller on her body, and she even has a mommy pouch that she is in no rush to get rid of. But, whenever she is ready to have a six-pack, she says will “go into beast zone” and work her a** off until she has it.
Beyoncé’s Vogue cover story is on stands now.
