Back in 2015, in one of the biggest controversies to ever hit the Real Housewives of Orange County, Vicki Gunvalson’s boyfriend Brooks Ayers was accused of a cancer scam. Ayers had claimed that he was diagnosed in 2013 with stage 3 non-Hodgkin lymphoma. He even produced documents to E! News to verify his diagnosis. It turned out, the documents that claimed he had been treated at the cancer hospital City of Hope were fake.
Ayers later apologized for faking the documents and claimed Gunvalson knew nothing about it. He still insists he did have cancer, but just didn’t want people to know his private medical history…especially the cast of RHOC.
Gunvalson and Ayers split during season 10 after the pressure of the controversy, which was a major storyline during that season, turned out to be too much for the couple to handle.
Ayers insists that Gunvalson was not a part of the scam in any way, despite accusations from her co-stars that she knew everything.

Fast forward to September 2017, and despite the cancer scam, Ayers now has a job in the medical field! According to Radar Online, Ayers is now employed by the company DocRX as a Territory Manager for hospital sales. DocRX is a “licensed manufacturer, wholesaler, and distributor of healthcare products and services for hospitals, pharmacies, and physicians.”
According to Ayers bio on the company website, he brings over 25 years of healthcare experience to his new position. Something that was never brought up on the show. The site claims that after graduating from college Ayers was a consumer lender for Trustmark National Bank for two years before transitioning into the medical field.
In 1993 he began work as the mergers and acquisitions director for Rotech Medical Corporation.
Now, here is where it gets tricky, in the bio it claims “since 1995, Ayers has been involved in numerous healthcare companies nationally to assist hospitals in increasing revenue streams.”
Just so we are clear, in the last 22 years, they could not get specific about what exactly he did for a living.

Vicki’s daughter Brianna often pointed out that he had no job, and was living off of her mother despite his claims to the contrary. Sounds like she may have been onto something.
In his bio, there is surprisingly no mention of his four years on RHOC or the cancer scam that ultimately ended his time on the show and his relationship with Gunvalson.
Ayers now lives in Fishers, Indiana, with his new girlfriend, Christy Groves Lindeman.
