On the latest episode of Dancing with the Stars, Vanessa Lachey revealed that she had to undergo an emergency surgery when she gave birth to her third child and it was a truly traumatic experience. Because Phoenix Robert was born ten weeks earlier than usual, the mother had no choice but undergo the unplanned procedure in order to keep the baby safe.
Vanessa told her dance partner, pro Maksim Chmerkovskiy, that she was on bed rest in the hospital, only 29 weeks along, when her water broke.
‘I was on the operating bed and I looked up and I did not know a single face and I remembered thinking I hope the baby is okay and do not worry about me. Just make him okay,’ Lachey explained
Nick Lachey, the contestant’s husband, also opened up about the health scare, admitting that he was terrified when his wife called him to say she was being taken to the emergency room for an urgent procedure.
‘I think as a man, you want to believe you can protect your kids, protect your wife. I never felt so helpless,’ Nick confessed.
Lachey and Maks seemed to have gotten over their reported feud as they performed an amazing rumba number on the newest episode os DWTS.
What’s more, the choreography mimicked Nick and Vanessa’s wedding dance so it held a lot of meaning and emotion.
While the dance couple did their magic in the ballroom, the husband sang the words to the song.
‘This song got us through some really tough times and helped us bond even closer as a family,’ Vanessa explained.
