Avicii’s family has revealed their plans for the late DJ’s funeral. A representative for the iconic producer stated there have been many questions regarding Tim Bergling’s funeral arrangements.
In a statement released to multiple publications, his representative stated that his family “confirmed that the funeral will be private,” and only for the people who were the closest to him.
Avicii lost his life on the 20th of April due to a long struggle with alcoholism and an illness involving his pancreas. At the time, his family released a statement confirming the news and asked for the respect and privacy for Tim’s family and friends in such a challenging time.
It was a very sad day for the music world, with many iconic entertainers and DJ’s paying tribute to him during their shows. Coincidentally, the news of his death came on 4/20, the national weed-smoking holiday.
Moreover, some of the most notable talents in today’s music scene, including Skrillex and Diplo, all paid tribute to him following the news of his passing.
His passing occurred right around the same time as Coachella, and many artists and DJs commemorated him while on stage. On the 26th of April, his family released a second statement insinuating that he may have killed himself.
They wrote that he “could not go on any longer.” His family claimed he was in search for “peace.” Unfortunately, an official police report detailing how he died has not been released to the public, resulting in many of his fans to speculate wildly as to what was the precise cause.
As you may know, the Grammy nominee stopped performing in 2016 after dealing with several health issues including pancreatitis. Doctors also removed his gallbladder and appendix back in 2014, and in several interviews, including with GQ, the DJ spoke about the “toxic” culture surrounding EDM festivals.
