Meghan Markle is set to exchange vows with Prince Harry on May 19 and fans of the royal family couldn’t be happier about it. A new poll conducted in the UK revealed that many Britons believe Markle is the most relatable royal to ever join the family, even beating out Kate Middleton. Why do people think Markle is more relatable to the average person than the Duchess of Cambridge?
According to Express, the poll surveyed over 2,000 UK residents and asked them who they thought was the most relatable member of the royal family. Prince Harry came out on top while Markle was a close second, making her the most relatable female of the royal family.
In contrast, Middleton ranked fifth on the list, winning only 13 percent of those surveyed. But why did Markle get more votes?
Most of the people who voted for Markle did so because of her celebrity status. Others said that she appears fairly in tune with the public while a small percentage voted for her because she is a feminist.
Middleton, on the other hand, got slammed because people thought she has changed a lot since marrying Prince William. In fact, the majority of people said she is a completely different person and hardly ever speaks her mind anymore.
As a comparison, the Duke of Edinburgh and Princess Beatrice of York both came out ahead of Middleton in the poll.
Markle rose to fame starring as Rachel Zane on the hit television drama Suits. Markle will walk away from acting, however, after she joins the ranks of the royal family this May. The final season of Suits, featuring Markle, will stream later this month on Netflix.
