It seems that Tyra Banks has called it quits with photographer Erik Asla. Page Six was the first one to report the news, and the publication stated that they have decided to go separate ways after being together for almost five years.
Even if the two of them are no longer together, there is no bad blood between them as they were able to commit to co-parenting their 21-month-old son, York.
A source told the news outlet that the separation ‘came drama-free and they’re co-parenting their young son.’
Even if Erik has agreed to move out of the family home, the two of them are still working together professionally, and he will shoot the credit for ANTM.
The source explained that ‘He is slated to shoot the photos for the opening credits of … the upcoming ‘America’s Next Top Model.”
This split comes more than one year after it was reported that they were struggling to keep their relationship back on track after the birth of their son.
The boy was born via a surrogate mother last year after Tyra was forced to endure traumatic rounds of fertility treatment a few years before.
‘When I turned 40, the one thing I was not happy about is that I did not have kids,’ Tyra said at the time.
‘I’m like, ‘Damn, the clock is ticking!’ When you’re like, ‘OK, I’m just going to do it,’ then it’s not so easy as you get older.’
‘I’ve had some not happy moments with [IVF], very traumatic moments. It’s difficult as you get older. It’s not something that can just happen,’ she continued, before saying that she’s keen to protect her son from fame.
‘I’m trying to hide him with a blanket. I pull over the gas station after they get the shot, I text his dad and I’m like, ‘I’ve got to put this picture out before the paparazzi. I don’t want them to make money off our child and have the first picture.’ So, I posted the damn picture.’ She now regrets posting the picture.
