Travis Scott’s highly anticipated album titled “Astroworld” just dropped at midnight and is already guaranteed to be another classic. From the credited contributors, writers, and producers to the iconic Travis Scott-sound, the project was worth the wait.
It was over a week ago when Travis fans didn’t even have a release date for the new music but they knew something was coming soon. Rumors swirled that Scott flew out all of the best producers from “Biebs in the Trap” and former collaborators (such as Nav and Boi 1da) to work on his best album yet.
“Astroworld” is nostalgically named after a theme park that was closed a few years ago in Scott’s hometown in Texas. In a 2017 interview with “Rolling Stone,” Travis fondly remembers: “It had a Dungeon Drop, Greezed Lightnin’, Superman. It was a way of life – fantasies, imagination.”
With pop-synth heavy deep beats and samples from everyone from Drake and 21 Savage to John Mayer and Tame Impala, “Astroworld” delivers fantasy and imagination.
The official cover art dropped on a few days ago and was already met with criticism.
After transgender model, Amanda Lepore, was photoshopped off of the album cover, critics automatically slammed Travis and photographer David LaChapelle for being transphobic.
Lepore simply explained to TMZ that she was just too distracting for the eyes and that she loves both the rapper and the photographer.
Amanda wrote on Instagram that: “It was great being part of @david_lachapelle s incredible photograph of @travisscott s albulm cover but I’m curious why I’m not on the picture @travisscott posted #amandalepore #glamourgirl A girl can’t help itToo distracting for the eyes Upstaged everyone in the photograph Oh well……….. I love @david_lachapelleand @travisscott Love and kisses .”
Fans reasoned that Amanda was kicked off the cover because she was blocking another important structure featured on the cover. They added that Scott hasn’t shown any signs of transphobia and is extra sensitive to the community considering that his baby girl, Stormi Webster, has a transgender grandmother — Caitlyn Jenner.
