Top Chef Season 16 returns and the season will take place in Kentucky. Bravo released the first look at the upcoming season that is set to premiere on December 6, 2018, at 9 p.m. ET/PT. Padma Lakshmi returns as host and Tom Colicchio as head judge along with judges Gail Simmons, Nilou Motamed, and Graham Elliot.
Fifteen new contestants will compete for the coveted title of Top Chef along with $125,000. This year, the show will feature some new additions such as three team Restaurant Wars and the contestant will cook for some of the most revered chefs in the business.
Top Chef will kick off in Louisville, Kentucky and will also take place at Lake Cumberland, Kentucky before the finale takes place in Macau, China.
Fans are sharing their excitement for the show’s return and many are expressing interest in seeing more of Kentucky in the season.

The fifteen contestants include the following: Eric Adjepong from Washington, DC; Edmund “Eddie” Konrad who is from Philadelphia, Pensylvania; Justin Sutherland from Saint Paul, Minnesota; Sara Bradley from Paducah, Kentucky; Michelle Minori who is from San Francisco, California; Brandon Rosen from San Mateo, California; Kelsey Barnard Clark from Dothan, Alabama, Brian Young and Adrienne Wright who are both from Boston, Massachusetts; Pablo Lamon who is from Miami Beach, Florida, David Viana from Asbury Park; New Jersey, Kevin Scharpf from Dubuque, Iowa; Natalie Maronski from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Justin Sutherland from Saint Paul, Minnesota; Caitlin Steininger from Cincinnati, Ohio and Nini Nguyen from Brooklyn, New York.
The contestants are known as “Cheftestants” and Season 16 vows to be entertaining, exciting, and challenging. Some of this season’s upcoming features involve Kentucky’s infamous racetracks Keeneland and Churchill Downs, cooking for Muhammad Ali’s daughter Laila Ali, and an event at University of Kentucky’s Rupp Arena with Hall of Famer Coach Calipari.
The challenges will feature a Kentucky flair and focus on some local delicacies such as the burgoo, Benedictine, hoecakes, and dumplings.
The final five contestants will travel to China to fight for the title “Top Chef”.
