Tommie Lee has had a rough go in the latest season of Love & Hip-Hop: Atlanta. The reality star has been fighting with a lot of her castmates, and her on-screen drama is typically caused by her relationship with the devil’s substance: alcohol.
According to a report from BET.com, Tommie sat down with her sister and mother, Versace and Samantha, to talk about their family problems and the elephant in the room.
Tommie said that there was a moment when she realized it was time for her to make a serious change to her lifestyle. And that moment was when the producers of the show temporarily suspended her.
During a trip in Texas, executives barred Tommi from drinking due to a chaotic and alcohol-induced outburst. Thankfully, she met up with a professional who could diagnose the issue.
According to the Love And Hip Hop star, she had with a specialist who helped her recognize the problem before it was too late.
Tommie said she sat down with a man named, Joe, and he told her flat out to her face that she was an alcoholic. Tommie said, “it’s embarrassing.”
However, Tommie Lee isn’t alone, as many people in North America – and around the world – struggle with alcoholism. Many people die every year from alcohol-related accidents as well as the physical byproducts of drinking.
And the emotional toll it takes on one’s soul is something that Tommie Lee’s mother knows all about. She struggled with the same disorder.
Samantha told her daughter that alcoholism took a lot of lives in their family, and it’s a cycle they have to break. And the revelations continued to go on, as Samantha dished on some of the medical issues she’s endured over the last few years.
Samantha explained she visited a doctor and they told her that it was something serious. But she wants everyone to know that she’s a fighter “regardless,” and will continue to go on.
