This past Saturday, legendary actor, Tom Hanks took a break from promoting his book in Austin, Texas, to help a man in the crowd propose to his girlfriend according to a report from The Associated Press.
During a Q & A session at the Texas Book Festival regarding his new book, Uncommon Type: Some Stories, the publication reported that Tom revealed he was bored of answering questions and wanted to ask some instead.
The publication stated that Hanks took out a piece of paper and addressed a member of the crowd, Ryan McFarling, and he had a question for a woman, Nikki Young.
The question went as follows, “Nikki, will you marry me?” After Tom helped out the man in the audience woo his partner, the pair got onstage, and McFarling got on one knee and showed his girlfriend a ring.
Fortunately for him, she said yes. One person at the event captured the entire proposal on camera and shared it on Youtube.
On their Instagram post, they thanked Tom Hanks for reading at the book festival and making his wedding proposal happen.
Additionally, the Book Festival shared the moment and showed a photo of the couple smiling with the Cast Away actor sitting on the stage.
Afterward, Hanks hugged the bride-to-be and wished them the best of luck. In other Tom-related news, the actor jokingly announced that he would run for President in 2020.
However, Hanks revealed not long after that it was merely a joke. Tom doesn’t always make public appearances, but when he does, he’s sure to impress. Hanks is known for not only being a top-notch actor but for keeping his private life out of the public’s eye.
