According to new reports, the famed actor is utterly terrified of the illness that killed his dad. Tom Cruise is known for performing his own stunts in films but what really scares him is dying young due to cancer!
Reportedly, the Hollywood star’s father, Thomas Mapother III, lost his life when he was no older than 49 due to a hereditary form of cancer.
Because of that, Tom Cruise has been undergoing medical tests regularly.
‘Tom’s terrified that he is at the age where he will contract the same cancer that killed his dad. He takes massive risks with his stunts,’ one source stated.
As fans may remember, his carelessness almost caused him to get seriously injured on the set of Mission: Impossible 6.
Cruise injured his leg while attempting a stunt that required him to jump from one building to the other.
Meanwhile, the actor has been dealing with a huge lawsuit as well, following the death of two pilots during a dangerous stunt.
The late pros’ families alleged that director Doug Liman, as well as Tom Cruise, are responsible for their death due to negligence.
The Colorectal cancer that killed Cruise’s father is the third most common cancer type in the United States in both men and women.
That being said, according to medical specialists who have not treated Cruise, his fears are not without substance.
‘If a person has a father who was diagnosed with colorectal cancer, he’s two to three times more at risk for getting the disease as the general population. Tom’s at an increased risk of developing rectal cancer because his father died from the disease.’
