TLC singer Tionne ‘T Boz’ Watkins opened up about her nightmare health issues, including battling sickle cell disease, recovering from a brain tumor and even falling into a coma following the birth of her daughter. The star is currently promoting a tell-all on what she has gone though called: A Sick Life: TLC ‘n Me: Stories from On and Off the Stage.
During a recent interview, the woman recalled breaking down in tears after finding out she had a brain tumor back in 2006.
Even though she cried in disbelief for the first few days, the singer realized she wanted to fight, and that is exactly what she did.
Despite the fact that many surgeons refused to perform the tumor removal surgery because of her sickle cell disease, Watkins managed to find a doctor that agreed to do the procedure even though it was so risky.
The recovery process ended up taking more than three years, but she is now happier than ever to be able to climb the stage with her TLC members and perform.
But the tumor was not the first time the artist had to deal with a life-threatening illness.
When she was just seven years old, a medical specialist told her that, not only will she not be able to have children but she will also not survive past the age of 30.
At 28, her sickle cell disease was diagnosed.
The illness causes blood clots to form and block circulation, therefore, preventing oxygen from reaching organs and causing horrible pain.
Because of her condition in 2000, after she gave birth to her daughter, the singer fell into a coma while breastfeeding the baby.
Are you shocked to learn the star had to struggle with such horrible health scares?
