After 21 years of marriage, Tisha Campbell and Duane Martin called it quits after a long attempt at holding their relationship together. The 49-year-old actress used her Twitter account on the 22nd of February to announce the news to her followers. It was there where she revealed she and Duane split up.
Tisha said, unfortunately, after 27 years of standing side-by-side and parenting two children, “I’ve filed for divorce.” She went on to say it’s an “emotional time” and asks for respect and privacy for the sake of her family and kids.
Cambell stated she and the White Men Can’t Jump alum, who nearly reached the thirty-year-mark, decided they would end things on good terms. They’re still “friends,” and “remain a family.”
Tisha said her ex-husband told her, “we are family forever.” As you may know, they first got married back in 1996, and they have two kids together. They welcomed their first baby, Xen, 16, back in 2001.
Their second son, Ezekiel, was born in 2009 and is eight-years-old, a terrible time in his childhood for a divorce. Sources close to the pair told us “it’s not particularly a good time for the kids but what has to be done has to be done. It’s as simple as that.”
The couple hit hard times when they had to file for bankruptcy in 2016, and the Daily Mail reported they were in $15 million of debt.
In case you don’t know, Campbell is most known for starring in productions such as Dr. Ken and My Wife And Kids as well as the 1990’s hit TV show, Martin. She played Gina. The tabloids and social media have circulated rumors as of late stating that the show might make a comeback.
The original version starred Martin Lawrence and Trichina Arnold. At the beginning of the month, Tisha said a reunion was possible when she spoke with reporters from TMZ and repeated the old mantra, “never say never.”
