Tina Fey Says “Mean Girls” Sequel Would Cost Too Much Money Because Of The Cast

Tina Fey revealed on Thursday, February 22nd, that a Mean Girls’ sequel is unlikely but for a surprising reason. Because of the star power of the cast and crew, Tina claims the fee to get all of the actors and actresses back together would be too high.
Fey alleges that the expense of the movie could be one of the reasons for the lack of a follow-up. Back in 2004, Rachel McAdams, Lindsay Lohan, Amanda Seyfried, Lacey Chabert, and Tina all starred in the movie with several other cameos throughout the film.
It doesn’t take research to know that all of the actresses listed above are incredibly successful now, so the possible failure of the movie would be too risky for the studio considering they would have to foot a massive casting bill.
When speaking with Entertainment Tonight on the 22nd of February, Tina said their “quotes are all too high now,” because they’re Academy Award-nominated entertainers.
Additionally, the 47-year-old comic believes the actresses mentioned above rocked the first film. The SNL alum said their performances in the 2004 flick were “great.”
Fey, who wrote the screenplay for it and is currently working on moving Mean Girls to Broadway, has dealt with rumors of the sequel for several years. It’s been fourteen years since the movie first came out.
McAdams, 37, is an Oscar-nominated actress for her role in the movie spotlight – she’s also expecting a child as well. Seyfriend, on the other hand, starred in major productions including Les Miserables and Mamma Mia!
Lizzy Caplan went on to star in movies such as Cloverfield; Now You See Me 2, and several other TV shows including New Girl and Masters Of Sex.
The 31-year-old Mean Girls alum, Lindsay Lohan – claims she is designing an island right now in Dubai, spoke about the potential for a successor during an appearance on The Wendy Williams Show in January of this year. The actress stated she would love to see it, but it’s unlikely.
