Tiffany Haddish is having quite the year. She stars in mega-blockbuster hit Girls Trip, has landed fun, laugh-out-loud stand up comedy gigs and just released her debut book, which is now a New York Times bestseller, The Last Black Unicorn.
For all intents and purposes, the fiery, hilarious black comedian is having a knockout season of her life. What’s more is that she just met superstar Beyonce and they took a fun selfie backstage at a recent Jay Z show. Talk about living the life!
It sounds like the Queen B gave Haddish some pertinent advice about enjoying herself amongst the hecticness that fame can often bring. If anyone can give Haddish necessary advice on how to handle fame, it’s Beyonce.
Haddish seems to be showing no signs of slowing down as she’s set to start filming a new movie with Kevin Hart and Insecure’s Yvonne Orji which is set to start filming at the beginning of the year.
In Haddish’s book, she reveals some tumultuous events from her past that have shaped her present and future.
She was in the foster care system since she was about 9 years old because her mother suffered a traumatic brain injury. Haddish details the abuse that she suffered at the hands of her mother and some of the members of the foster families she stayed with.
Haddish even recounts the domestic abuse that she went through during her first marriage, though her ex-husband has come out and said that her version of the events didn’t go exactly as she said. Haddish brushes those claims off and says that there is really no reason she would lie about what he put her through.
She even suffered a miscarriage during a particularly tough time in their relationship when a lot of physical and mental abuse was taking place.
In any case, Haddish has risen above it all and her booming career seems to show the type of tenacity and verve that has gotten her through some terrible times in her life. Also, with someone like Beyonce in her corner giving her pertinent life and career advice, she’s destined to go far.
