The comedian and actress is over the moon about receiving an Emmy, but apparently, she also wants the prize money! Tiffany Haddish was honored with the award for guest-hosting SNL last week at the Primetime Emmys’ preliminary award show, Creative Arts Emmys.
While in attendance at the GOOD + Foundation an Evening of Comedy + Music Benefit, Haddish talked to E! News about the recognition she got.
‘I feel the same way I did when I wasn’t an Emmy winner. I don’t feel any different. I am waiting for the check, you know, because you know, when you win a trophy, when you are like a NASCAR driver and stuff, you get like, flowers and a check, so I am hoping that happens. I am waiting for that to happen,’ the funny woman joked.
She added that: ‘Accolades, what is that? Accolades don’t pay the rent. I got to pay for my grandma’s nurses and stuff so a check would be nice. But it is nice to have trophies, I guess. But it does not matter if you do not have a roof to keep ’em under, huh?’
But of course, while the Emmy awards are not accompanied by any prize money, winning definitely boosts stars’ resumes and can open doors for them to bigger and better projects!
Speaking of, back in 2011, The Simpsons star Hank Azaria shared with Variety that ‘Sometimes you can demand more money and receive bigger roles, but it depends. I have won four, and they have all done different things.’
Felicity Huffman also told the outlet that after winning an Emmy, ‘People take your calls a bit easier. People are a little bit more eager to meet you.’
