Meghan Markle’s dad, Thomas Markle, was all over the royal wedding with words of praise and delight for his daughter’s new title. Even though Thomas didn’t go to the ceremony, he was watching from the other side of the world.
When he spoke with TMZ, he said it was “beautiful and it’s history,” and would “always regret” not being able to walk his daughter down the aisle that day.
As it was previously reported, after Thomas got caught allegedly staging paparazzi photos, he told the world he had a heart attack and had to undergo surgery in Mexico.
“My baby girl’s a duchess and I love her so much,” Markle explained. According to the father of the Suits alum, when watching his child get married, every memory he had of her went through his mind, including birth, school, and so on and so forth.
And while the ceremony went off without a hitch, one of Meghan’s siblings, her half-brother, Thomas Junior, supposedly sent Harry a “scathing” letter outlining all of the reasons why he shouldn’t marry her.
Thankfully, we can all put the drama aside. As the world knows, Meghan and Harry got married today at the St. Georges Chapel in the Windsor Castle in front of an audience of around 600 people.
The event today was watched by people all over the world, garnering a viewership far surpassing other popular ceremonies including the Academy Awards and the Superbowl. However, the wedding of Kate and William reached two billion, a record that Meghan and Harry’s probably didn’t beat.
Either way, most of the royal family was there, including Prince Philip, Prince Charles, Camila, Duchess of Cornwall, Princess William, as well as Kate Middleton. After they got tied the knot, Harry and Meghan hopped into the Ascot Landau carriage and journeyed through the streets of Windsor.
