It’s been almost half-a-year since Jack Antonoff and Lena Dunham broke up for good. During an essay written for Vogue, Lena dished on how she got over all of it. It was a slow and gradual process, but she managed to overcome the pain with time and dedication.
Dunham wrote about it at length in her piece for the fashion magazine, and at one point, during the break-up-conversation between herself and Antonoff, she sadly asked, “But what if we still went on dates?” Antonoff responded, “whatever you want.”
However, both parties realized it was over for good, and the “finality” of it all broke Lena’s heart. During her essay, the Girls alum claimed solitude is something she used to love in the past.
But after a long relationship, it’s difficult to embrace that sense of solitude once again, because of the work it takes to get over emotional hardship.
As for how she actually became accustomed to solitude again, the writer admitted she took “baby steps.” She started taking baths, reading books, and going out to restaurants by herself.
It was all an exercise in learning how to be comfortable with oneself again.
Before a person can truly move on from their pain, it’s necessary to be at ease in your own skin, that way you can bring a renewed sense of joy and experience to the next relationship.
As you may know, since their breakup, Jack has been seen with a bevy of beautiful models. The Bleachers songwriter is a few years older than Dunham, and for the most part, he has stayed relatively silent on the end of their relationship. Although, he did like one of Dunham’s social media comments.
