The Iron Throne is up for grabs when Game of Thrones returns for its final season next year – but there’s one character we can officially rule out of the competition. Mark Gatiss, who appeared as Tycho Nestoris of the Iron Bank, will not be in Season 8 of Game of Thrones.
Gatiss has been a part of the show since back in Season 4 and has appeared in three different seasons. His last appearance was in Season 7 when he plotted with Cersei Lannister to take down Daenerys Targaryen. Tycho admittedly isn’t a frontrunner for ruling Westeros after the war with the White Walkers, but his non-involvement in the final season definitely rules him out.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Gattis recently revealed that his character probably survived the final season, but only because he is not actually in it. “I’m not in it, so I guess I survive,” Gatiss shared. “Although they might just mention offhand that I’ve had my head bitten off by a dragon off-screen or something.”
While Gattis’s exit isn’t that shocking, his premature departure could have a devastating effect on the people of Westeros. Being a part of the Iron Bank, Tycho symbolizes a sort of civility in a show known for its violence.
If Tycho is gone, then it could mean that Westeros has fallen into chaos in the wake of the war with the Night King. It could also mean that the Golden Company had little impact in the events of the final season, which doesn’t bode well for King’s Landing or Cersei.
As fans will recall, Cersei was planning on using the Golden Company to restore order to Westeros and cement her claim to the throne. At the end of Season 7, she made a deal with Tychos to purchase the use of the army, and Euron Greyjoy presumably left King’s Landing to provide transport to said army.
Nathalie Emmanuel (Missandei) said #GameofThrones Season 8 will be incredibly satisfying with story arcs coming to their conclusions and the series final episode will blow people’s minds when they watch it

But if Tycho is not a part of the final season, then there’s a chance that Euron never made it to his destination, which would not be good for Cersei.
Game of Thrones is scheduled to premiere its final season sometime in 2019. Producers are also planning on coming out with a prequel to the hit fantasy drama, which will be helmed by Jane Goldman.
Each of the episodes in Season 8 of Game of Thrones is expected to run a little longer than usual given everything the series needs to wrap up before the end.
