Mel Gibson is dad for the ninth time. The 61-year-old actor and his current girlfriend, Rosalind Ross, 26, just had their first child together, Lars Gerard Gibson, who was born last Friday in Los Angeles.
The baby weighed 5 lbs, 5 oz. “They are excited and Lars is adorable. Their family is with them and Mel is in heaven. They are at home and everybody is healthy and happy,” said a source.
People had announced in September that the couple, together for two years now, were expecting a baby and that he was “delighted”. “Mel loves being daddy and Rose is looking forward to becoming a mom, unveiled a source at the time. “He has just spent two years with his new love is ready to become a father once again.”
While awaiting the birth at the end of last year, Mel Gibson had told Extra he was ready to “catch” the baby. “But I think I’ve exhausted my adrenaline, so I might not react fast enough,” he said, laughing, obviously tired of waiting for the happy event.
It’s been a busy week for Gibson. As we reported a little earlier, today he was given a best director nomination for his film Hacksaw Ridge, which was also nominated for best picture.
The sometimes troubled star has come to terms with his ex-girlfriend, Oksana Grigorieva for custody of their 6 year old daughter, Lucia. He also has 7 other older children with his ex-wife Robyn – 34-year-old twins and 4 other sons of 32, 28, 26 and 16-years-old. Gibson and Robyn had separated in 2006 after 26 years of marriage and ended up divorcing in 2011.
