Meghan Markle’s dad, Thomas, recently gave Piers Morgan at Good Morning Britain a tell-all interview, and it turns out it was just his latest blunder in the complicated relationship he has with his daughter. The Duchess of Sussex was close to her father growing up. But when she left home to go to college at Northwestern University, things between them started to sour.
According to E! News, Meghan’s former friend Ninaki Priddy shared a home video of the aspiring actress at 18-years-old pointing to the direction of her dad’s house and saying, “From Dad’s house, you can see the Hollywood sign. But we aren’t going to go there because my dad and I aren’t on the best of terms.”
Meghan Markle's dad has launched a tirade against her Majesty. Saying, "if the Queen is willing to meet our arrogant and insensitive President she has no excuse not to meet me."

But fast-forward a few years later, when she scored her first major TV role on the USA legal drama Suits, and the father-daughter duo had a much better relationship. Meghan has spoken in the past about how both of her parents offered her emotional support while she was going through auditions and trying to land a big role. And, once she got the part of Rachel Zane, her dad – who was an award-winning Hollywood lighting director – was proud that his daughter had beaten the odds.
The 36-year-old moved to Toronto and starred on Suits for seven seasons, and during that time Thomas moved south of the border to Mexico – but he still offered his daughter advice and expertise.
“I will always find my light. No question,” Meghan said. “And if I don’t, I’ll know, because my dad will be the first person to call me and say like, ‘You need to have him bring another 2K in,’ and ‘Why aren’t you using this sort of lighting gel?'”
I think Thomas Markle blew the opportunity to meet the Queen when he 1: conspired with the paparazzi for cash 2: bailed on Meghan 3: Got paid for a TV interview in which he talked of personal conversations. Poor Meghan. Put a sock in it #thomasmarkle ? https://t.co/OBVOUJed1z

In a 2016 Instagram post celebrating Father’s Day, Meghan thanked her dad for giving her his best traits, and they continued a relationship of give-and-take. They helped each other over the years when needed, and when she started dating Prince Harry, Thomas says that she was eager to welcome her dad into her Royal world.
The Duchess of Sussex arranged for suit fittings ahead of her May 19th wedding, and royal cobblers made him custom shoes. Thomas was ready to walk his daughter down the aisle, and everything was in place. But then, the paparazzi scandal hit.
For over a year, Thomas had seen unflattering pics of himself taking the trash out or buying beer, so he put together a plan to have photographers take staged pictures. He quickly realized his mistake and issued a public apologu, but the damage was already done.
But even with that mistake, the Royal family still embraced him, and Thomas was still planning on walking his daughter down the aisle. But when doctors told him he needed to have heart surgery, he had to step aside and let Prince Charles replace him in the ceremony.
It looks like Thomas just wants to be worthy of having a Royal daughter, but after the paparazzi mishap and missing out on the wedding ceremony, his latest interview doesn’t seem like the greatest choice. The palace had no knowledge it was going to happen, and Thomas revealed a lot of private information about Prince Harry’s politics that is supposed to be a secret.
Thomas Markle also revealed that during his phone calls with Prince Harry, he told him not to speak to the press. Maybe someday soon he will start to take his new son-in-law’s advice.
Meghan Markle has yet to comment about her father’s recent interview.
