It turns out that the rumors were true all along. Liam and Cheryl, who began dating back in 2015, announced today on Twitter that their relationship is officially over. Liam wrote today that he and Cheryl “are sad to announce that we are going our separate ways.”
As fans of the couple know, they have a son together named, Bear, who just had his first birthday on the 22nd of March. He added, “Bear is our world and we ask that you respect his privacy as we navigate our way through this together.”
Cheryl made a similar announcement on Twitter. The couple first met through their time on the X-Factor in the United Kingdom, where Cheryl was a judge on the show, and Payne was a contestant back in 2008.
Interestingly, Liam was just 14-years-old at the time. Liam was in the boy-band, One Direction, where he paired up with Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, and Louis Tomlinson. The group won the top spot in the reality competition series to create One Direction and went on to secure a number one album.
Cheryl and I are sad to announce that we are going our separate ways. It's been a tough decision for us to make. We still have so much love for each other as a family. Bear is our world and we ask that you respect his privacy as we navigate our way through this together.

It was revealed by People Magazine back in November 2016 that the couple was expecting a child together. And Cheryl confirmed the news in February 2017.
Shortly after the arrival of their baby, Bear, Payne dished on how happy he was to be with Cheryl. The singer explained that she was “wonderful” and it was “amazing to have someone” who can relate to him on so many things.
And that wasn’t the only time he gushed about her either. Back in May 2017, during a conversation with reporters from The Sun, Payne insinuated that although they loved each other, they didn’t have any intentions of getting married.
Curiously enough, fans speculated they would break up earlier in the year, but they were able to put on a convincing collective face on social media. In March, Payne said that every couple had their “struggles,” and they were no different.
Liam said, “tell me a relationship in the world that doesn’t go through a spot like that?”
