The ladies of the Real Housewives of New York were preparing for a day of fun in the sun on a luxury yacht during a recent visit to Cartagena, Colombia. But things quickly turned chaotic, and some serious drama ensued on the high seas when the cast found themselves fearing for their lives. How did the RHONY cast end up on an old vessel that caught fire and started to sink?
It all started when they boarded a boat that couldn’t move. The anchor got stuck, so the crew had to saw it off before they could sail. Then, when they got out to sea, the engine caught on fire.
The crew attempted to fight the huge blaze, but they didn’t have a fire extinguisher. And, to make matters worse, they couldn’t communicate with the ladies because they didn’t speak English.
But the problems didn’t end there. The seas were so rough that anything that wasn’t nailed down started to fly around and the boat started taking on water. And, there were only three life jackets on board – not enough for the cast and crew.
The reality stars’ pleasure cruise ended with them all hysterical and covered in vomit.
“They all thought they were going to die and they were hysterical,” reveals an insider. “Bethenny [Frankel], Ramona [Singer] and Dorinda [Medley] were soaked and screaming hysterically.
Eventually, another boat came by and rescued them, but the event was so traumatic that Bravo has offered counseling.
Everyone ended up being just fine and they were able to continue their vacation as planned. However, the network says that the safety of the show’s cast and crew is the most important thing, so they will be launching a full investigation.
Even though Luann de Lesseps has left rehab and has resumed filming for the upcoming season, it doesn’t appear that she joined the rest of the cast for the vacation. Instead, she is busy fighting a battle in court after a drunk and disorderly incident on Christmas Eve.
That night, de Lesseps allegedly got drunk and trespassed into the wrong hotel room during her stay in Palm Beach, Florida. When security tried to get her to leave, she refused, and the hotel staff called the cops.
When the police arrived, de Lesseps locked herself in the bathroom. When she finally opened the door, an officer attempted to detain her, and she shoved him with an open palm to the chest. She then slammed the door and struck him in the forehead.
Then, when the police finally cuffed her and got her to the patrol car, she slipped off the handcuffs and attempted to escape.
De Lesseps is facing charges of battery on an officer, disorderly intoxication, resisting arrest with violence, and crimes against a person.
New episodes of Real Housewives of New York will return later this year on Bravo.
