Days before her nuptials with Prince Harry, Meghan Markle’s father Thomas was involved in a scandal. The man released some staged ‘paparazzi’ pics that he later regretted after he was exposed. Soon after, his heart problems worsened, and he needed to undergo surgery.
It sounds like a lot of stress for the future bride and her groom’s royal family, but we have leaner that the whole thing has only brought the in love couple closer.
This morning, Meghan released a statement in which she confirmed that her dad would no longer attend her wedding as he is recovering from his surgery.
‘Sadly, my father will not be attending our wedding. I’ve always cared for my father and hope he can be given the space he needs to focus on his health,’ she stated.
Naturally, the father will no longer be walking his daughter down the aisle either, and speculations say that her mother might be taking over this role during the May 19 ceremony.
‘This is a celebratory and happy time for both Meghan and Harry, but the situation with her father has been difficult. Prince Harry is very protective. He’ll do all he can to protect Meghan and her immediate family,’ one source told E! News.
‘Mental health’s a massive priority for the Royal Family, and everyone’s fully aware of what kind of effect this can have on someone. Prince Charles and the entire family have a great understanding and are supporting and caring for both Prince Harry and Meghan during this private matter,’ the insider added.
Meanwhile, Meghan’s mom Doria Ragland has already met up with Prince Charles and his wife, Camilla.
The in-laws got to know each other over tea before the wedding.
