This season of The Bachelor is gearing up for what could possibly be the most dramatic finale ever. Arie Luyendyk has fallen in love with two women – Becca Kufrin and Lauren Burnham – and he uttered those three little words to both finalists. But just because he proposes to one of them in the Season 22 finale, it doesn’t mean there isn’t any hope left for the other.
According to US Weekly, after proposing to Kufrin, a few weeks later Luyendyk had a change of heart. So, he dumped her and decided to get on a plane and find the runner-up, Burnham, so that he could profess his love to her.
His betrayal will lead to a drama-filled final episode, not to mention the After the Rose special.
“The finale is going to be very interesting for fans to watch. It’s been an experience I’ll remember forever. It’s going to be fun for me to watch back,” said Luyendyk.
Back in November, a source says that Luyendyk was ready for marriage and when it was time to get on one knee and give one of the women a Neil Lane-designed ring, everything went as planned. He asked Kufrin to be his wife, she said yes, and the couple was super happy.
For about two months after their trip to Peru, Luyendyk and Kufrin spent some alone time together back in the states. But, as the January 1st season premiere got closer, he started to have second thoughts about his choice. He also couldn’t stop thinking about Burnham.
He eventually realized who he loved and who he really wanted to be with, so he met up with Kufrin to end their short-lived engagement. An insider says that Luyendyk wasn’t nice and didn’t handle the situation well, and Kufrin was in shock.
When he decided to confront Burnham, he brought ABC cameras with him, and after Luyendyk begged her to take him back, she did.
Luyendyk and Burnham are now together, but they are taking things slowly and not jumping into anything.
The 36-year-old says he knows people are going to be hard on him, but he made a mistake and is prepared for the backlash. He added that he followed his heart and he will explain his stunning behavior and address the fallout from both women.
The self-proclaimed romantic admits that his decision might not be a popular one, but for him, it was worth it.
The two-part finale of The Bachelor will air on Monday, March 5th, and Tuesday, March 6th on ABC.
