The new season of The Bachelor is officially underway, and even though Arie Luyendyk eliminated eight women in the premiere, there are still 21 single ladies vying for the former race car driver’s heart. But, one of his former friends doesn’t think his relationship with the winner will last once they are off-camera, and he is putting his money where his mouth is.
According to The Hollywood Gossip, Jef Holm – former winner of The Bachelorette and former friend of Luyendyk – is predicting that there isn’t much of a future for the 36-year-old and whichever lady he chooses.
“Doesn’t matter who gets out of the limo…I’ll give 5k to the charity of @chrisbharrison’s choice if @ariejr lasts 1 year with anyone,” Holm tweeted during the recent premiere of The Bachelor.
Just because Holm won season 8 of The Bachelorette, it doesn’t make him a love expert, but as a former friend, he may know something fans don’t about Luyendyk. The question is, is the tweet about The Bachelor himself or the reality TV dating franchise?

It seems the slam is toward Luyendyk personally. The two used to be friends, but their friendship ended when Holm claimed Luyendyk was “disgusting.” Apparently, he doesn’t think the real estate investor will be able to hide his disgusting behavior once the cameras stop rolling.
When it comes to The Bachelor, there are two kinds of contestants: those looking for true love and those looking at their time on TV as a chance to grow their brand and score other reality opportunities.
There is some speculation that Luyendyk could be the latter, and fans wonder what would happen if he paired up with an equally fame-hungry contestant. They may not break up for normal reasons but instead stay together longer if there is a possibility of their own reality show.
Of course, all of this is just speculation. Maybe Luyendyk is really looking for love and will find a contestant doing the same?
Per USA Today, Luyendyk is a bit different than the normal Bachelor, being a little bit older and featuring some gray hair. But, he says he deserves this opportunity, and it is a good time in his life for him to be looking for love.
Luyendyk made an appearance on The Jimmy Kimmel Show after the first episode of The Bachelor aired to chat with the late-night host, and he refused to give any hints about who won his heart during the season.
The Hollywood Reporter says that Kimmel attempted to guess the winner, ending up with the prediction that Becca K. would walk away with the final rose, despite her rough start. Kimmel said he thinks it’s her because Luyendyk called her name first in the rose ceremony, meaning hers was the only name he could remember.
New episodes of The Bachelor air Monday nights on ABC.
