Former Teen Mom OG star Ryan Edwards was back in a Hamilton County Tennessee court this past week to face his most recent charges. Red Bank Police pulled Edwards over around 1 a.m. on July 23rd for speeding, and the 30-year-old showed up in court to plead guilty and to also pay the $178 ticket.
Original reports claimed the July arrest was for drug possession, but Edwards says that isn’t true. Police pulled him over for speeding, and during the traffic stop it come up that he had violated his probation for a previous drug charge because he hadn’t completed his community service. So, they took him to jail and held him without bail until they released him on July 31st.
Edwards said that he didn’t complete his community service because he had “so much going on,” and he didn’t realize the deadline had passed. He does admit that he “messed up,” but he has gotten the chance to get organized and fix the situation.
Edwards has found himself in legal trouble multiple times this year. On May 21st, the court issued a warrant for his arrest after he failed to appear for a hearing (which was also a probation violation), and that afternoon police arrested him for petition to revoke from the previous heroin possession charge.
In March, police also arrested Edwards for a petition to revoke after he failed a drug test a few weeks earlier — another probation violation — after testing positive for opiates and morphine.
All of these probation violations and arrests stem from Edwards’ initial arrest in March 2017 when police detained him after finding more than a dozen hypodermic needles in his car during a routine traffic stop. One of the needles had heroin in it. The judge in the case eventually gave Edwards a sentence of 11 months and 29 days for the drug possession charge, but he suspended it and instead ordered Edwards to serve six months on probation plus five public work days, and he also had to submit to random drug testing.

A couple of months after that first arrest, cameras caught Edwards slurring his words and nodding off while high on Xanax as he drove his wife Mackenzie Standifer to their wedding. A few weeks later Edwards entered rehab.
This season the couple will not be returning to Teen Mom OG, and Standifer says it is because MTV doesn’t want to show her husband’s story of recovering from addiction. The couple is expecting their first child together this October, and she says that the network was interested in signing their unborn child, but wanted their son to film with Edwards’ parents to make it look like Standifer and Edwards weren’t raising him.
Edwards is the father of 9-year-old Bentley, who he shares with his ex, Maci Bookout. Standifer is the mom of 4-year-old Hudson.
The new season of Teen Mom OG, without Ryan Edwards and Mackenzie Standifer, premieres October 1st on MTV.
