The Teen Mom franchise has been through a lot of scandals recently – including Farrah Abraham’s $5 million lawsuit and David Eason’s homophobic Twitter rant – and the other cast members are now afraid that MTV is going to cancel the popular reality series. Could all this negative publicity mean that the network is going to pull the plug?
Teen Mom OG’s Tyler Baltierra is getting worried about the show’s future. MTV has continued filming, but everything is still up in the air with the franchise right now. So, there is no guarantee that the footage they are currently capturing will make it to air. There are only six weeks left in the show’s production schedule for the upcoming season.

Not helping the situation is the fact that advertisers Nutro Company and Caesar Cuisine have pulled their ads from airing during the show. Fans have also started an online campaign asking other advertisers – like Papa John’s Pizza, Office Depot, and Dove – to pull their spots.
Producers fired Eason this week after he posted a photo of his wife, Jenelle Evans, holding a gun just hours after the Florida school shooting that left 17 people dead and then refused to take the picture down while expressing his support for gun control.
Later, he went on a homophobic Twitter rant while defending his choice to keep the photo up.
MTV is currently in meetings to decide whether or not to let Evans go, too. They have currently placed filming for her on hold, and there are no plans to resume filming.
Teen Mom 2 co-star Kailyn Lowry says that she is happy MTV “drew the line” by firing Eason, but many fans believe that the network needs to go further.

One fan tweeted that if MTV continues to employ Evans, it would be a slap in the face to the LGBTQ community and school shooting victims.
As for Abraham, she filed her lawsuit against the show’s production companies and executive producer Morgan J. Freeman after they fired her last year because she returned to the adult film industry.
Abraham is claiming that Freeman harassed, humiliated, and sex-shamed her decision to pursue opportunities in adult entertainment. She alleges that his hostile tone and language made her fear for her life.
New episodes of Teen Mom OG air Monday nights at 8 pm ET on MTV. The network has not yet announced a premiere date for the new season of Teen Mom 2.
