As fans may remember, last year, a man was caught by the police after he stalked and even burglarized Taylor Swift! Now, we have learned that the man has finally received his sentence!
According to the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office, perpetrator Mohammed Jaffar plead guilty to the accusation of attempted burglary in the second degree.
As a result, on May 7, he was promised a sentence of six months behind bars and five years probation after his release.
After serving his time, Jaffar will have to continue going to mental health treatment sessions in the years to come.
The sentence suggested more than a week earlier was confirmed by the judge this morning without any changes.
Jaffar was detained by the authorities in the singer’s NYC apartment last March.
He was accused of trespassing, stalking, and burglary.
At the time, he was held on a $20,000 bail, and the judge also signed an order of protection against the stalker.
Reports had been claiming that the man attempted to get in touch with the superstar many times before his arrest but after the order of protection was signed, he was obviously ordered never to initiate contact with Taylor again.
In September of last year, Jaffar was declared unfit to stand trial.
E! News exclusively reported The New York District Attorney’s statement on the matter: ‘The case was called yesterday and the defendant was found unfit to stand trial, then placed in the custody of the New York State Office of Mental Health.’
Taylor Swift is yet to acknowledge the case publicly in any way.
