Todrick Hall – the backup dancer who has worked for Beyoncé as well as Taylor Swift – sat down with Us Weekly this week to discuss the “Formation” video from Bey and Taylor’s new video for “Look What You Made Me Do.”
However, Hall thinks the comparisons are unfounded, despite the wife of Jay-Z “striking that pose” in a lot of her videos.
Hall said to Us Weekly that he was “surprised” because when he was working in the room, it didn’t seem like a “Beyoncé-esque” thing to do.
With that said, he can understand why some people would make the comparison because “she has done that pose a lot.”
Hall added, “It was just a completely different aesthetic and I, as a board member of the Beygency, felt like if we were snatching something from Beyoncé, I would have been like. ‘Ok, Taylor, one second.'”
Hall – who is a Youtube star and former contestant on American Idol – thinks Taylor and Bey have similarities between them.
For example, case in point, their inexorable work-ethic. According to Todrick, Swift and Beyoncé take their work and choreography “very seriously.”
Hall said he was “so proud” of Taylor – despite her being a little bit nervous on set. The dancer claimed he had Swift’s back throughout the entire performance. As for what Hall is up to these days, the Youtube star is currently in the process of creating more content for his channel on the streaming service. He is also a mentor in the Mickey Mouse Club as well.
