Taylor Swift, Pink, and Kim Kardashian are getting a lot of attention these days with many tabloid publications sharing their take on what could be a possible reignition of a feud. Celebrity rumors are nothing new, but they can become a bit troublesome when the celebrities involved have large and loyal fan bases. Since recent reports are alleging that there are tensions brewing between Taylor Swift, Pink, and Kim Kardashian, you can see the aftermath as it plays out on social media networks via the fans. At issue are previous tweets Kim Kardashian made that prompted a response from Pink, and the new story that Taylor Swift has taken sides in the drama, though she won’t publicly get involved.
This story has some truth mixed in, but clearly, tabloids took the story and ran with it, blowing it up into something it’s not. What it really centers on; however, are different waves of feminism and how that is played out in the public arena.
Here’s the rundown on the story and what we know is fake news and real drama.

Let’s go back a little bit to preface this story with some pertinent information.
The feminist movement took on a new dimension in the 60s and 70s. Essentially, while women in the 70s were burning bras and fighting for equal rights, feminism had a certain type of behavior associated with it. In the seventies, women did not promote or exploit their sexuality in order to be considered a feminist.
According to traditional feminism thinking, women who were associated with Hugh Hefner were being exploited, not taking ownership of their bodies or sexuality.
Fast forward to the third wave of feminism, or what we are experiencing today. In today’s society, there are different types of feminists. Some women believe that taking ownership of their sexuality is not exploitation, but feminism. Still, many old-school feminists disagree and believe that acts such as posing nude or working in exotic clubs are a form of exploitation.
You can find many women in the new millennium who will all say they are feminists but hold different views on what feminism means.
Feminists can include anyone from Amber Rose organizing slut-walks to Mayim Bialik who stirred controversy in her Harvey Weinstein op-ed when she discussed her choice not to wear revealing clothes or flirt with men in an effort to avoid sexual harassment.
All of these debates play out in the public arena of social media where everyone in the U.S. freely shares his or her views and opinions.
Kim Kardashian, Pink, and Taylor Swift all represent different types of feminism.
Kim Kardashian is known for taking nude selfies, posing nude, and using her body to create an empire. Unlike Kim Kardashian, Pink is known as a feminist who doesn’t cave into society’s demands and expectations of a what a “woman” is supposed to be like.
Pink crops her hair and displays a strong image, and while some accuse her of not being feminine enough, she confounds their thinking by performing beautiful and sensual aerial routines during her shows.
The aerial routines Pink performs are often associated with circus acts or even exotic dancing.
Taylor Swift became famous at a very young age. She was a sweet-natured, wavy-haired girl with a country twang who was the picture of an innocent, demure teen. We’ve watched Taylor Swift grow up, change styles, and become the woman she wants to be.
We’ve also seen Taylor Swift dominate music charts and date whomever she wants. Her approach to dating is a feminist one where Taylor is in charge of who she’s in a relationship with, doesn’t apologize for her romances, and lets the world know that it’s her life, her choice, and she’ll do what she wants with it.
Taylor, Kim, and Pink are all in agreement that their lives are their owns, they are in charge, and they’ll live their lives how they want.
The controversy between Taylor Swift and Kim began through Kim’s husband Kanye West when he stormed the MTV stage and took the microphone away from Taylor when she was accepting an award.
The move was not only cruel and embarrassing for both parties, but it was erratic.
Because of the stunt that Kanye West performed, there will always be fake news stories surrounding Kanye, Kim, and Taylor. There is simply no way tabloids will ever forget the moment and what transpired.
In March 2016, Kim Kardashian had posted a nude selfie on Twitter, prompting Bette Midler, a singer, actress, and comedian to tweet a hilarious response.
The photo went viral. It showed Kim Kardashian stark naked with black bars over her most intimate parts. She wrote, “When you nothing to wear. LOL.”
Bette Midler responded with the following tweet and a war of sorts brewed online between Bette and Kim.
Kim Kardashian tweeted a nude selfie today. If Kim wants us to see a part of her we've never seen,
she's gonna have to swallow the camera.

Some people make the mistake of assuming that a lot of likes, tweets, retweets, or YouTube views is always a positive thing. Just because something goes viral does not mean it is good, positive, or that it is being shared because people are in awe and wonder.
Sometimes things go viral for the wrong reasons.
Kim Kardashian’s nude selfie went viral with many comments that were negative towards Kim Kardashian and encouraged her to put clothes on.
Feminists are split on issues such as these. Some think that in a patriarchal society run by men, feminists shouldn’t give in to the ideas and notions of sexuality they believe need to be changed in order to have equal rights.
Others think it is liberating and freeing to take control of your sexuality and determine when the world sees you naked.
On March 8, 2016, Pink shared a tweet. It was in honor of International Women’s Day, but people couldn’t help wonder if the singer was really calling out Kim Kardashian.

Again, it should be reiterated that feminism means different things to different women. While many women will agree with Pink and state that she has the correct view of feminism, many will also stand by Kim Kardashian.
There are many women who believe being a feminist means having the freedom to use plastic surgery, botox, collagen injections, or whatever is at your disposal to create the outer look that you want in order to live the life that you want.
While feminism has long been associated with developing a woman’s inner strength and mind to counteract patriarchal societal expectations others feel that if a woman wants to empower herself by working in legalized prostitution, the sex industry, or sharing nude photos on social media networks on a daily basis she has the right to do it.
Kim Kardashian wrote a blog post on her app following the Twitter controversy explaining her reasons why she shares so many nude selfies.
“I am empowered by my body. I am empowered by my sexuality. I am empowered by feeling comfortable in my skin. I am empowered by showing the world my flaws and not being afraid of what anyone is going to say about me. And I hope that through this platform I have been given, I can encourage the same empowerment for girls and women all over the world. I am allowed to be sexy.”
The recent controversy began when Pink appeared on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen and a caller asked specifically why Pink shared the above tweet.
Pink brought up the Kim Kardashian selfie and said that she did it in defense of Bette Midler.
You may see the video below.
If you listen to Pink’s comments, you’ll notice she didn’t say anything specifically about Kim Kardashian and it didn’t appear that she was reigniting a feud.
What do you think? Do you believe the reports alleging there is new drama between the artists or do you think it is fake news?
