Clapping back in style! Tamron Hall took on a hater with grace and intelligence, and her supporters are applauding her.
The former co-host of TODAY appeared on a recent episode of Cape Up, that was entitled Tamron Hall: ‘Unapologetically’ black and American.
While the title of the piece might rub some the wrong way, the first sentence of the interview between Hall and Washington Post‘s Jonathan Capehart makes it clear that the reporter is proud of her roots but she was raised to be American, inclusive and supportive of others.
She said in part: “Some say if you are too pro-your-community, you’re anti-someone else’s. And we will shrink away from those conversations.”
Hall added: “We want to be at the table because of our talent, because of our hard work. We never want to be at the table because we are black. I remember it was someone who one day told me. Listen, Joseph Lieberman is unapologetically Jewish. You can be unapologetically black. That doesn’t mean you’re anti-anyone.’”

The Weekly Standard‘s Jeryl Bier did not read the interview and came out swinging.
He told Hall: “Remind me why “Unapologetically black” is ok?”
Hall had a classy clap back with the following statement: “Remind me why it bothers you? Never mind you opted to Jedi mind-trick the rest of my sentence, hoping it would vanish. I also said “unapologetically American” But I can guess why you didn’t see it. Enjoy the interview in full.”
The fight went viral, and the conservative writer quickly understood he was wrong and admitted it by tweeting: “I was wrong to comment before reading the article. I have corrected that.”
Some bashed Bier and others ignored him and took the high road to compliment Hall.
One of them said: “I love you Tamron hall you are beautiful and lovely wife friend for life god bless us all.YOUR BRILLIANCE is missed on the Air! A third person shared: “Stay true to yourself! #inspiring. So loved this interview!! So on point. Bless you, Tamron for sharing your wisdom with us. Love your honest chat with Capehart!!!! Please do more!!”
Hall was more or less demoted to make way for Megyn Kelly.
The Texan reporter has been touring the country delivering paid speeches while working on a new TV show.
