After Kanye West released a series of tweets in support of the contentious president, Donald Trump, Chance The Rapper claimed Kanye was “family” and TI said we wouldn’t give up on the rapper yet. As it was previously reported, Kanye wore a Make America Great Again hat and uploaded a photo of himself to Twitter.
The tweet shocked many of his fans and sparked widespread condemnation. The Washington Post ran several pieces on the Yeezy creator, including one where they stated the rapper has “fallen off” and become someone else.
However, fans in the comment section didn’t necessarily agree. One person wrote, “Yeah, how dare Kanye West to have a different opinion than someone else. What does he think he is? A free man or something?”
Black people don’t have to be democrats.

West referred to Trump as his “brother” and said they both share the same “dragon energy.”
Moreover, West claimed that while he doesn’t necessarily agree with everything Trump has ever said or done, he still respects him as a figure, someone who has “energy.”
Additionally, Chance The Rapper tweeted, “black people don’t have to be Democrats.” However, he went on to backtrack on that comment later.
As for TI, Kanye’s fellow rapper in the hip-hop community said they haven’t given up hope on him yet. TI stated that the old Kanye is too important to the African-American community as a whole.
As a source previously shared to us, “Kanye isn’t actually serious about supporting Donald Trump. He sort of is but is mostly doing it for the attention and publicity, because he’s got two new records coming out. It’s pretty genius what he’s done, to be honest.”
