Steve-O has made some significant changes in the last ten years. On Saturday, the reality star revealed he has been sober for a decade, and couldn’t be any more gracious and grateful. As you may know, the 42-year-old first became famous for his role in the MTV production, Jacka*s.
The actor took to Twitter to celebrate his freedom from substance abuse and thanked his fans, friends, and family for the support.
The Jacka*s star alluded to his old co-star, Johnny Knoxville, and credited friends for checking him into a psychiatric ward. As it was noted above, On the 9th of March, Steve-O revealed it had been ten years since he was forced to stay in a hospital to get sober.
Hard to believe it’s been an entire decade since I’ve had a drink or a drug. I just can’t put into words how grateful I am for @realjknoxville and the rest of the guys who locked me up in a psychiatric ward on March 9, 2008, where this journey began. Thank you, dudes, I love you. pic.twitter.com/10dUWO5ViZ

Steve-O, who will soon tie the knot with Lux Wright, finished off his tweet by thanking his friends. He stated, “thank you, dudes, I love you.”
In the past, Knoxville divulged on what it was like to sit Steve-O down to discuss his problems. When speaking with Access Hollywood, Johnny admitted he and all of his friends had been watching him because he started abusing “crazy” drugs.
Following a series of menacing emails which hinted at self-harm, Knoxville and ten of their boys showed up and told him they would take him to a hospital.
Johnny, who expected defiance from Steve-O, revealed to him that if he didn’t comply with their request to go to the hospital, they would “knock him out” and force him to go. Fortunately for him, it was enough to change his mind.
However, his years of drug use did come with a price. Steve-O admitted that, as a result of drug abuse, his mood swings and depression are chaotic. Thankfully, he made his way back into the light and is on the path to a speedy recovery.
