Sterling K. Brown created quite the storm after his latest tweet. The This Is Us star left fans in a panic after saying he is open to starring in a reboot of the popular political drama, West Wing. Is Brown really thinking about leaving This Is Us for a new show?
According to Huffington Post, Brown responded to West Wing creator Aaron Sorkin’s comments about casting him for a possible reboot. After Sorkin admitted that he would love to see Brown as president, the This Is Us star took to Twitter, writing, “If you are serious, sir, I would be honored!”

The post caught fans by complete surprise and even shook up This Is Us producer Ken Olin, who assured Brown that he doesn’t want to see him go. Olin also told the actor that there would be around 20 million fans who wouldn’t be happy if he left.
Unfortunately, a friend of Sorkin, Joshua Malina, later shared that Sorkin is really serious about rebooting West Wing and wants Brown to play the lead. To be fair, Sorkin was only half joking about rebooting the series, though it sounds like he might be interested in pursuing it if Brown is on board.
In response to all the chatter, Olin released a second tweet assuring fans that Brown is not leaving the show for the rumored reboot. Despite the assurances, we aren’t so sure that Brown wouldn’t jump at the chance of starring as the president in a West Wing reboot.
According to AV Club, NBC has given Sorkin the green light to reboot the series whenever he wants to revisit it.
While rumors of a reboot have surfaced a lot over the years, Sorkin revealed some of his plans for a new season.
Along with bringing on Sterling K. Brown to play the president, Sorkin wants to bring back Martin Sheen’s Josiah Bartlet, who has retired to a quiet life. Sorkin envisions Brown’s character consulting with Bartlet, much like former President Bill Clinton did with Richard Nixon.
Of course, it sounds like Sorkin will have a war on his hands if he wants Brown to leave This Is Us for the reboot.
