After Han Solo’s death in The Force Awakens and Carrie Fisher’s heartbreaking passing last year, Mark Hamill’s Luke Skywalker is the last remaining member of the franchise’s original trio. With the latest Star Wars film now in the box office, Hamill recently opened up about working alongside Princess Leia one last time — including how he made out with Fisher while filming the very first Star Wars movie.
In an interview with The Guardian, Hamill explained how he still hasn’t come to terms with Fisher’s death. The two developed a strong friendship after working on the hit franchise together, though their relationship first started off as slightly romantic. In fact, Hamill revealed that during the first film, he and Fisher were hanging out when the topic of kissing came up. Hamill assured his co-star that he was a great kisser because he wasn’t aggressive about it.

Before Hamill knew what was happening, he and Fisher were locking lips in an intense makeup session. But their romantic evening didn’t go beyond kissing and, much to Hamill’s disappointment at the time, they just started laughing about what had almost happened.
Hamill went on to explain how he and Fisher were really good friends outside of the Star Wars universe. And while they had their share of good times they also fought, just like any good siblings do. Hamill would sometimes criticize Fisher for being self-absorbed while she would make fun of him for being a dull person.
Despite their small squabbles, Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher remained great friends through the years. When George Lucas pitched the idea of another trilogy they both jumped at the opportunity to reprise their roles one last time.
According to Telegraph, Hamill also opened up about Fisher’s affair with Harrison Ford. The actor admitted that he didn’t know what was going on between Ford and Fisher and only learned about it after the movies were over.
Even still, Hamill was thankful that he was kept in the dark when filming. If he had known about the affair, then it may have negatively affected his on-screen performance, not to mention his relationship with Fisher. When he eventually found out what had happened he found it pretty amusing.
Fisher suffered a heart attack while flying from London to Los Angeles in December of 2016. Fisher had already filmed most of her scenes for Episode VIII: The Last Jedi but had not done anything for the final movie in the trilogy. It isn’t clear how filmmakers are going to proceed with the franchise without Fisher, who was supposed to be the focal point of the final film.
Tonight, The Duke of Cambridge and Prince Harry attended the European premiere of Star Wars: The Last Jedi at the Royal Albert Hall. The premiere was hosted in aid of The Royal Foundation of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry. The Foundation invited more than 400 young people, military veterans and volunteers who have taken part in its programmes to join Their Royal Highnesses at the premiere.Guests include representatives from Coach Core, Full Effect, and military programmes such as the Endeavour Fund. The premiere was an opportunity to recognise and celebrate people who have worked hard to change their lives and the lives of others. On behalf of The Duke of Cambridge and Prince Harry, The Royal Foundation also invited some of the families who were affected by the Grenfell Tower tragedy, alongside representatives of the local fire services and the charities and organisations who are now helping them recover and try to rebuild their lives.
While Hamill clearly has some great stories about working with Fisher, Daily Mail reports that he also got to do a few scenes with British Royalty. Although the scenes did not make the final cut, Hamill made the most out of Prince William and Prince Harry’s visit to the set of The Last Jedi.
He revealed he took the opportunity to ask if Luke Skywalker was royalty because he is Princess Leia’s brother (Fisher always told him it doesn’t work like that). Unfortunately, Mark Hamill got a yes from William but an “I need more information” from Harry, so the debate was left unresolved.
Star Wars: The Last Jedi is in theaters now.
