According to a source, the rumors that The Weeknd was going to offer one of his kidneys to Selena Gomez are not true! As you may be aware, the speculations started after the singer released his new album.
One song, in particular, titled Call Out My Name seems to suggest that he nearly donated the organ to his girlfriend.
The lyrics that have been getting the fans talking are: ‘I almost cut a piece of myself for your life/ Guess I was just another pit stop/ ‘Til you made up your mind/ You just wasted my time.’
People think he is talking about the transplant which took place a few months before they put an end to their relationship as well as referencing the fact that Selena rekindled her romance with Justin Biber.
However, a new insider has made it as clear as possible that ‘It is just a lyric he knew it would strum up attention and that people would interpret it exactly as they have, but he was never going to donate his kidney to her. Sure, he was her boyfriend, so it perhaps crossed his mind to get tested and see if he was a match – which is amazingly rare – but it never got anywhere close to actually happening.’
As fans remember, it was Gomez’s BFF Francia Raisa who donated the kidney the singer needed to survive.
‘Selena would never, ever have asked him. She would not have even wanted him to even entertain the idea! It was difficult enough for her to allow a lifelong friend to do it, but a new boyfriend? No way,’ the source added.
In reality, it looks like their ten-month long romance was not even as serious as The Weeknd is portraying it in his song.
‘To be honest, they were never as intense as he is making it seem. The Weeknd was much more concerned with his career than the relationship. Selena leaned on her friends and family members during the surgery more than anyone.’
