According to media reports Friday, rap star Soulja Boy has been arrested on suspicion of violating his probation after police found a loaded firearm at his Hollywood Hills home.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the 26-year-old entertainer was arrested at his home in 3200 block of Dos Palos late Thrusday evening.
Soulja Boy, whose real name is DeAndre Cortez Way was nearing the end of a two-year long probation for carrying a loaded gun during a routine traffic violation. At the time he was released on $35,000 bail, reports the Associated Press.
His probation period was expected to end in less than a week.
As reported by Contact Music, it is not immediately known why police were called to the home.
Neighbours told Eye Witness News that since the rapper moved in to the home there’s been constant problems.
“We’re just all really scared for our children and our families. We hope that police can do something about this,” said one neighbor.
Aside from dealing with his mounting legal woes, Soulja Boy has also been embroiled in heated beefs with both Shia LeBeouf and Migos’ Quavo.
A representative for Soulja Boy did not immediately respond to our request for comment.
Soulja Boy became a household name in In September 2007 with his debut single “Crank That (Soulja Boy)” The song peaked at number one on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. The single was initially self-published to the internet, and later became a number-one hit in the United States. The song was also the first to ever hit 3,000 digital downloads.
In 2016, Way released his fifth and sixth digital albums in addition to numerous mixtapes, singles and videos.
