The two stars tied the knot in 2005, not even a year after getting engaged but their marriage lasted even less – five months! Considering that her union with Chad Michael Murray was so short, Sophia Bush filed for an annulment, citing fraud as the reason.
However, the court denied her request but in December of 2006, they were granted a divorce instead.
Bush stopped by Andy Cohen’s Radio Andy Sirius XM show today, where she talked about the brief marriage.
‘Everybody has been 22 and stupid. It [marriage] was not a thing I actually really wanted to do.’
Cohen was curious to know how someone gets talked into getting married if they don’t want to go through with it.
Sophia explained: ‘Because how do you let everybody down. And how do you- what is the fight and when you have bosses telling you you’re the only one who gets a person to come to work on time and 200 people either get to see their children at night, or they do not because our days start on time. Life’s always loaded.’
‘What the public knows ever is never- it’s the tip of the iceberg. Hilarie [Burton] and I used to laugh and we were like, ‘If we had a behind-the-scenes show, the drama would be so much f**king better than the drama that the writers write.’’
To be noted that the two starred together on One Tree Hill and that is also how they met for the first time.
‘I get why you ask, but it’s like, people won’t let it go,’ she added.
Later on, after the interview, Sophia went to social media to tweet: ‘When you are taking the piss out on yourself – b/c people cannot let the past go, and you really wish they would – and gossip rags try to turn it into inappropriate drama rather than self-deprication. Do not twist people’s words, y’all.’
‘If it was not clear, I was making just fun of MYSELF…And if all the years that have passed have not made it WILDLY clear that we are all grownups who have become the best versions of ourselves, then I just do not know what to say. And PS, if my teasing MYSELF on the radio today — for my past — hurt anyone’s feelings, I’m sorry.’
