According to Sophia Bush, she didn’t actually want to get married to her husband, Chad Michael Murray. Chad met Sophia on the set of One Tree Hill in 2005, nearly a year before they decided to tie the knot.
However, five months after they said their vows in front of their guests, reports surfaced indicating they had chosen to call it off. In 2006, Bush tried to divorce, and explained the reason was “fraud,” but the court rejected her request.
But the court eventually allowed their divorce in December of the same year, and they lost touch after Murray left One Tree Hill in 2009. During an appearence on Andy Cohen’s radio show, Radio Andy SiriusXM, Sophia said that nearly everyone out there has been “22 and stupid.”
Sophia said it was something she never wanted to do, but apparently, everyone on the set told her that the only reason Chad Michael Murray came to work on time every morning was her.
According to the actress, she and Hilarie Burton used to laugh at all of the drama on the set, because there was really no need for writers. They couldn’ve just had a behind-the-scenes show which would be much better.
As you may know, Bush almost never talks about getting divorced from Murray with the media. So, Andy just had to press her on the details.
Bush explained that she and Chad were “two stupid” kids who shouldn’t have gotten together in the first place. During a piece written for Cosmopolitan magazine in 2017, Sophia explained that she avoided talking about the divorce for a long time because she didn’t want it to define the rest of her life and career.
In her essay, Sophia said she came to realize over the years that relationships at certain moments in time have many different purposes. Some are meant to heal you, and some help with your growth. However, there are others which are meant to show you that trusting your intuition is usually the best course of action.
