Charlie Hunnam is looking worse for wear while filming his new movie, Jungleland. The actor stepped out from the set of the film sporting a large cut over his bruised eye. The appearance comes shortly after Hunnam opened up about the success of Kurt Sutter’s Sons of Anarchy spin-off, Mayans MC.
Hunnam’s new project is about a bare-knuckle boxer portrayed by Jack O’Connell. The former SOA star plays the part of the boxer’s brother, a man who bets on bouts and quickly finds himself in a lot of debt.

It is not clear how Hunnam sustained the injuries, but he definitely looked battered and bruised going home from the set. In addition to the beaten face, Hunnam had his left hand wrapped and some duct tape rolled around his left thigh.
While Hunnam nurses his injuries, he was recently asked if he will be making a cameo as Jax Teller on Mayans MC. Although fans would love to see Jax back in action, Hunnam revealed that he will not be returning to play the character, who died in the Season 7 finale.
According to Daily Mail, Hunnam admitted that his time on SOA was “the deepest experience” of his career and that his connection to Jax is why he would never resurrect the character.
“He sort of became sacred to me,” Hunnam added.

Mayans MC is set years after the events in the final season of Sons of Anarchy, which is one reason why it would be hard to bring Hunnam back.
While Charlie Hunnam will not be joining the spin-off, fans have been treated to a few surprise cameos over the first couple of episodes. This includes Katey Sagal reprising her role as Gemma Teller in a flashback and Michael Ornstein returning as Chuck “Chucky” Marstein.
New episodes of Mayans MC air Tuesday nights on FX.
