While the country and the great NYC are still reeling from the attack posed toward innocent pedestrians on the street in lower Manhattan, singer Josh Groban had an experience firsthand as he was scarily close to the scene.
NYC officials state that a trunk purposefully rammed into a group of people and slammed into a school bus in the lower side of Manhattan today. 6 people died on the scene while another two died from their injuries at the hospital. Dozens were wounded.
During a series of tweets that he posted as the atrocity was happening, Groban detailed what he was seeing and hearing: “Oh my god, I just heard gunshots and ran with my dog. Downtown F-. I hope everyone’s ok. Was half a block from me, didn’t see it but heard 8-19 quick rounds fired off. Be safe with your kids out there.”
Groban later added his condolences for the victims who had been killed and exalted the spirit and bravery of the city itself. Groban saying that there were still people in costumes taking to the streets and trick or treaters everywhere. Groban gives accounts of being very shaken up by the event.
In another tweet, he claims that he was headed toward the corner coffee shop, right where the incident happened. He said his dog instead pulled him over into the park so they ended up staying there for awhile. Moments later, he heard the loud bangs and gunshots.
Once he had gotten far enough away, he praised the city’s police and fire departments for their quick and instantaneous action. As soon as it was aware just what was going on, they were on the scene in moments. In a change that isn’t usually experienced, the perpetrator was actually taken alive and arrested. In these type of acts, the perpetrators tend to take their own lives.
No further information about the victims, or the person who carried out this horrible act, has been released. We keep the victims and their families in our prayers and most positive thoughts.
